Futures Trading based on COT Report W02-21

by Michael Chechnev | Jan 17, 2021 | Trading week results

Hello Insiders,

Today is Sunday, January, 17th.
Let’s take a look at our trades for the past week.

NATARAL GAS – closed position, profit $110

The setup to buy was formed as a result of the analysis of the last week’s COT report (week 01).

We opened a trade using the MA18 pattern on January 12th. When entering a trade, we expected upward impulses. One impulse took place, but it did not continue. Experience tells us that if there are no planned impulses, then it makes no sense to stay in position for a long time.

Therefore, it was decided to close the position at a level near breakeven. Here we have earned $110.
Today we will look at the latest COT reports and will make a decision on re-opening the position in natural gas.

US DOLLAR – open position

This is also a fresh long signal from week 02. This is a corrective trade, since there was already an impulse, then a correction, and on this correction we opened this deal.
We have a small stop loss ($550), so risk/reward ratio is very interesting. This position is also open on a small account.
The position is kept.

As predicted when forming plans for the current week, CRB turned out to be growing. Many of our short signals were canceled and the instruments continued to rise.
Therefore, next week we will also give preference to long trades.

So, this week we have the profit $110 and these are the open positions.

That’s all about our trading in this week.
Next, we are moving to planning forthcoming trading week 03.

Risk Disclosure: Trading in futures, forex and CFD's involves a high degree of risk and is not suitable for every investor. An investor may possibly lose more than the capital deposited. Only risk capital should be used for trading, or parts of risk capital. Risk capital is money, the loss of which does not change the financial situation or does not affect life. Hypothetical Performance Disclosure: Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. The account results presented may vary significantly in gains and losses. One of the limitations of hypothetical results is that they are generated by known historical data. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk - no hypothetical track record can represent the financial risks of actual trading. For example, there is a possibility that trading will be suspended or cancelled if losses are incurred, this can greatly change the actual results. Furthermore, there are numerous other factors that cannot be fully accounted for in hypothetical performance when implementing a trading program, and thus can affect actual results.
